You need to go to the Obsidian extension "Advanced URI" and uncheck "Open file on write". Worked for me.
Hmm that half works, but I think my expectations might be misaligned.
I was hoping to have a way of chucking notes into Obsidian in the background whilst on Zoom, or in Miro, or somewhere else on the system.
However, whether I have silent mode on or off (plus the setting you suggested) it always launches Obsidian / brings Obsidian to the forefront.
I'm now guessing / assuming thats something that has to happen to make the shortcut work.
Yeah, I see. I thought it worked for a moment, but I have the same problem now. Maybe if the "append" function would just edit the markdown file directly and not open Obsidian...
This is a limitation of the Obsidian Advanced URI plugin or to be more precise a limitation of the way daily notes work within Obsidian. I am working on a general "Append" command which will work as smoothly as possible.
Hey!
'Silent mode' doesn't seem to be working for me when using "Append to Daily Note". Even if I shut Obsidian down completely it still opens the application and note.
A bug perhaps?
