11 months ago Might not be necessary, but some users like the stats. They're at the bottom of the settings page, out of the way.
The stats are stored in your browser's storage along with the rest of your IWB settings, and aren't shared anywhere.
It is not necessary, in addition to possibly giving the idea that there is some telemetry/home server involved in the extension.
