Insulation and Weatherproofing for Affordable Modular Housing
As a resident, I want my modular home to be properly insulated and weatherproofed so that I can enjoy a comfortable indoor environment, save on energy costs, and contribute to environmental sustainability.
Acceptance Criteria
[ ] All external walls, roof, and floor panels must meet a minimum R-value of 20 for thermal resistance.
[ ] Windows and doors must be double-glazed with an airtight seal to prevent drafts.
[ ] Insulation materials should be environmentally friendly, non-toxic, and have a low global warming potential (GWP).
[ ] Weatherproofing materials used in external joints, seams, and openings must be durable, resilient, and maintain elasticity in extreme temperatures.
[ ] The installation process of the insulation and weatherproofing must comply with standards set by the International Code Council (ICC).
[ ] Structures must pass a blower door test with results showing air leakage is less than 0.25 cubic feet per minute per square foot of the building envelope at 50 Pascals.
[ ] Adequate ventilation systems must be integrated to manage moisture and indoor air quality.
[ ] Offer a warranty that covers defects in materials and workmanship for at least 10 years post installation.
