Have a look at the top of page 4 of this document. This is how we will be naming packages where the pincount doesn't match the package size. I have not added this to the KLC yet as we only first came across this issue last week.

So, in this case, please name as:

Linear_MSOP-12-16-1EP_3x4mm_Pitch0.5mm
