Yes, we require either the actual source file be placed in https://github.com/KiCad/kicad-packages3D-source or an addition to the scripts at https://github.com/easyw/kicad-3d-models-in-freecad

All dimmensions have been checked from the step file. Imported *.wrl seemed very good from the 3d viewer directly to footprint 3D projection. I am not sure how to check for correct material properties.
