Hakan Alpay is an iOS/Web Engineer at Meta. He has extensive experience with iOS and Android development from his time working at Meta and Zenith Insurance, and extensive web development experience from the aforementioned jobs, Symantec, and his numerous person projects. Hakan and I have been friends since UCLA and he’s always excelled in his computer science classes. He did a computer science internship every summer since senior year of high school. In each one, he’s led teams for the projects he was assigned: delegating work, interfacing with cross-functional partners, and managing deadlines. Especially at Meta, he’s done all of the necessary data science for each feature that he’s built, to determine the most impactful variant of a feature to ship to the masses. His work ethic is great: I see him frequently working nights and weekends to ensure the highest standard of engineering excellence with his work and that it finishes in time for the necessary deadlines. At Meta in particular, he’s been the subject of multiple re-orgs during which he had to pick up completely new codebases and technologies immediately whilst still shipping code in a timely manner. All in all, I think he’s an incredibly dependable and capable engineer with a wide breadth of skills, and I would recommend him as an engineer for Uber.
