The meta-language is called Sass, which is it's name and not an acronym.

It has two different syntaxes it supports, SCSS which stands for "Sassy CSS", and SASS which stands for "Syntactically Awesome Stylesheets".

TLDR:

Sass - When referring to the language as a whole, the community, or the ecosystem around it.
.scss or .sass - When referring to the supported filetypes.
SCSS or SASS - When referring to the syntax used in those supported filetypes.
