Should have brought this up a long time ago. :)

When starting aircraft the AFCS switches default to the state they were in on shutdown. Normally STAB ON, SAS1 OFF, SAS 2 ON, TRIM ON, FPS ON, BOOST ON.

Why SAS1 OFF?

It's an analog system and shut off during power changeover.
