Fix to let the project compile on avr-gcc 4.8.3 (Arduino IDE 1.6.x) #20

This pull request makes the project compile again with the latest avr-gcc / avr-libc. The project has NOT been tested on real hardware.

Most of the changes regards removing the use of prog_char and use plain char instead.

Updating each library with the latest upstream version available is probably the best thing to do, but it's outside the scope of this pull request.
