YouTube videos freeze after 2 minutes of play #110

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Cast a YouTube video from an android phone, tablet, or Windows 7 computer
2.The video will begin play
3.The video will freeze at or around the 2-minute mark (recent tests froze at
1:59, 2:15, and 2:17 - but multiple tests produce this result)
4. While freezing, the YouTube video on the phone, tablet or computer will show
a the 'loading' graphic, which will continue indefinitely until step 5
5. On casting device (e.g. phone, tablet, computer), slide the time bar
forwards or backwards by a few seconds
6. Play will resume
7. After a further 2 minutes of play, the video will freeze again

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expect video to run continuously, as long as the internet connection is stable.
Instead, YouTube video stops consistently after two minutes of play.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
-Chromecast app for Android version 1.3.10
-YouTube app for Android version 5.3.24
-Chromecast Chrome Extension on Chrome Version 31.0.1650.63 m
-Laptop computer running Windows 7
-Samsung Galaxy SIII Mini running Android 4.1.2
-HTC Desire S running Android 4.0.4

Please provide any additional information below.

Further details that would indicate this isn't a problem with the internet
connection, television, or casting device: On the same internet connection, on
the same devices, the YouTube videos will play continuously with no
interruption. The problem only occurs when casting. This has also occurred with
when trying two different computers to cast to the Chromecast (not
simultaneously), and has also occurred while using two entirely separate
internet connections with two entirely different television sets.

I have the exact same problem. Doesn't matter whether it's my laptop, S4, or
Galaxy Tab 3 (7"). All have the pause after about every single 2 minutes and 15
seconds. Exactly as described above.

To follow up, a factory reset of the Chromecast made the issue go away on my
device, but this of course may not address what caused the issue in the first
place.

I had the same exact issue. Newest version of everything. I did a factory reset
and it worked for a little while but it still periodically pauses for no reason
at around the 2 minute mark.

I did the factory reset and then followed up right away after initial setup
with a reboot using the app and have had no issues since.

Thank you for your support of Chromecast. We've just released a major update
to the Google Cast SDK and will be closing your issue.

Take a look at http://googledevelopers.blogspot.com/ for more information.
