Gaps in surface

I can create step profiles which create gaps in the surface (making them useless as containers of course ) as in the Stepped sine modulation but becasue the spiral mode interplates between layers, we get a bad intermediate layer. The way to avoid this is to transit between layers at the point where two layers intersect. This would require finding such a point and then switching instead of continuous interpolation.
