It is not at least reproduced in my XPsp3.
This DLL is installed from the beginning in XP in case of almost.
However, such a problem seems to be likely certainly to be reproduced according
to
user's environments.
Though it doesn't understand the reason well... (something updated or
uninstalled?)
Anyway, to solve this, the DLL will be reinstalled to your system.
Please find the DLL somewhere in WEB.

The DLL already exists in my system. I reinstalled it many times and I get the
same
problem.

have you tried running it with the .dll in the same dir as Rainmeter?

My system finds the file in the windows/system32 directory on Vista 32. Not
sure if
it was always there or got installed at some point.

Yes, I'm a Japanese user. sorry in poor English.
I also have the same experience as you.
Incidentally, In my case, "MSVCR71.dll" was not found, either.
However, it worked when putting two DLL into same dir as Rainmeter.exe.
Furthermore, when re-installing XP as new after few days, this problem did not
arise
any longer.

@JMHarris3283 - Just tried that, still unsuccessful even after reboot.
@brian.todoroff - Mine is in the same directory. I believe in my case it is
installed
with XP
@kenz0.sanada -
いや、全然分かりやすい英語ですよ^^d でも質問です。"tw
o DLL into
same dir"って what's the other DLL? MSVCR71.dll and ? Also, my XP was just
reinstalled 2 weeks ago...so it should not be a problem...but...

Completely uninstalled Rainmeter with Revo Uninstaller, and reinstalled the
latest
version again. Still encounter the same problem, even with copies of the DLL in
my
sysetm32 folder and in the Rainmeter dir. Bizarre.

The alert of "MSVCR71.dll" came out again this time after putting in
"MSVCP71.dll".
In my case, it means that two DLLs were not found.
Since it is dependent on a user's system environment about the obstacle about
runtime, I do not understand after all.
Well, even if it puts DLL into system32 or Rainmeters Dir, it means that an
alert
appears in addition?
Or doesn't a certain other alert or other error message appear?
Incidentally, Is the DLL real "MSVCP71.dll"?

I have the DLL in both system32 and Rainmeter Dir, and I get an error message:
MSVCP71.dllが見つかれません (俺のOSは日本語版)
How do I check if its the "real" DLL?

There must be many places which have distributed DLL.
How about trying on other ones?
I do not have advice more than this about this problem any longer.
(If you want to receive replies from many users, it is better not to use a local
language if possible.)

Got it to work! I installed the latest rainmeter on my pc at work to see what
would
happen, and it worked fine. So I copied the DLL from that pc on to my home pc
and now
it runs without a hitch. yay.

This should no longer be an issue as we have switched to VS 2008.
