Rainmeter.exe stops working when...

1. Hidden files and folders are shown on vista.
2. Or when folder options settings are set to default when they are set to
show hidden files.
3. What is it to do with FOLDER OPTIONS???

Im using Rainmeter V0.14.1 on my VISTA HOME PREMIUM x86.Isn't it vista
Home premium compatible????

Hello

Well I will certainly put this in the "damnedest things" folder.

I use Vista 32 Bit, with unhidden files, and have never had an issue.

In the image, are you also using a Visual Style, as I do not recognize
everything on
your screen shot.

Also which version of vista (32 or 64)?

We have a second confirmed case of this issue.

1) If you use "Folder Options" and change whether "Hide Protected Operating
System
Files" is "on" or "off", Rainmeter crashes. Every time.
End post

I am wondering if this is not related to a UAC issue, but there is no way to
actually
tell for certain.

Both of these users are using the latest untested release, so I am unaware if
the
issue existed previously.

This may need some serious looking into

I have a similar encounter installing RainMeter in Windows 7.

I have a desktop and a laptop. UAC is disabled in my desktop while UAC is
enabled in
my laptop (since a lot of other members of my family borrowed my laptop).

I installed Rainmeter on my desktop with no problems encountered. Although I
also
encountered a lot of bug-related problems like: (a) crashing when hiding and
showing
hidden files, and (b) running nero 9.

Now, I installed Rainmeter on my laptop. It installed properly. But the very
first
thing that happened when i started running Rainmeter is that it asked me to
choose a
skin. When I exit and run rainmeter again, it again asked for skin. When I
restart my
PC, it again ask for skin. Plus whenever I hit on EDIT SETTINGS, Rainmeter.ini
is
blank, nothing is written. I did not encounter any problems on my desktop.

So I assume that the problem is related to UAC being ON. I turned off the UAC
of my
laptop, and everything was solved!

I am having this issue on an XP machine, I am curious if it is DEP settings
causing
this to crash on both Vista and XP, MY laptop (this is my sisters' old laptop
now
being used by my mother in another home so she doesn't have to bring her
computer
everywhere to check email)

Anyways, my other laptop has never had an issue, but then again I never used
UAC I
turned it off and DEP off immediately.

My old XP desktop however NEVER had this issue at all.. ever that I can think
of so I
have no idea what is causing it for some and not all.

-edit Well unfortunately I just tested if it was DEP but it was not.

No idea what could be causing it.

Try installing Rainmeter in a unrestricted folder ... like C:\Rainmeter\. This
way it
wont be affected by the UAC restrictions on C:\Program Files\.
