The code here feels barely-passable at best, but I think that that reflects a lack of vision in terms of the entire project. Grand refactoring should be done before development for this version is done, or immediately after this branch is merged. For now, I am okay with merging this branch into 'dev' with the understanding that the entire codebase will be refactored shortly.
