That's a great idea you had when you did this little Xposed module! This helped with my Huawei Ascend G7 phone.
I added two functionalities:
1- min value change threshold (see readme for description). Not sure if it's really useful as it is, because it would be more useful if we had a different min value per axis. It would be easy to implement and test but I don't have the time to try out right now.
2- a preferences screen where both the min value change threshold and the median filter size can be changed on the fly.
Also, you should maybe push the app officially on the Xposed repository, I think that a lot of people would be interested (not only for Cardboard apps, but there are probably other use cases where the sensor is too jittery and this is the only app that allows to control that on all phones).
