Protocol

• compounds are injected once into healthy larvae in bottom left pro-leg
• concentration of compounds is 500 uM in PBS (with a maximum of 5% DMSO) - assuming that larvae are uniformly 0.5 mL in volume, a 20 uL injection results in a 20 uM concentration in the larva
• each group contains 15 individuals and each experiment has two controls: an untouched group, and a PBS group (injected with PBS vehicle) -- the experiment is considered invalid if more than 3 of the PBS control group die (>80% survival)
• larvae are monitored for 10 days after injection
• a minimum of 3 repeats are required for each compound
