Outcome

84% yield (1.203 g)

  1. Dissolved #67 (2.2986 g, 8.39 mmol) in sodium hydroxide solution (2.5 M, 10 mL)
  2. Heated to 80 C and left for 30 minutes. TLC indicated reaction was occurring but not complete.
  3. Add 5 mL extra NaOH solution
  4. TLC'd again after 2 hours total reaction time. TLC indicated completion (20% ethyl acetate in hexanes, UV - can also use ninhydrin stain).
  5. Left to cool
  6. Adjusted pH to between 8 and 10 using HCl (1 M) and Na2CO3 (saturated)
  7. Collected white precipitate by vacuum filtration and washed with cold water

500 MHz NMR

1H NMR (500 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 9.38 (s, 1H), 7.72 – 7.65 (m, 1H), 7.28 – 7.19 (m, 2H), 7.19 – 7.13 (m, 1H).

13C NMR (126 MHz, DMSO) δ 182.12, 156.85, 154.90, 127.92, 126.97 (d), 126.70 (d), 124.15 (d) 115.77 (d).

19F NMR (471 MHz, DMSO) δ -123.27.
