New UI Design #338

Currently BCU is the best Open Source Software uninstaller for Windows. But as many of us know that Windows has launched with a major redesign such as Rounded corners, WinUI, Mica theming, etc.

BCU supports the New Scrollbars, Snap layouts, Rounded corners already. What do I think is ‘Why not redesign with Fluent UI theme as BCU is only specific to Windows ?’

My two cents are that this kind of software must put security and other things before aesthetics. It says 'looking for maintainers' in the README, so if contributors are sparse, I think it's safe to say aesthetics is not the main concern here.

The new UI features you mentioned are free for applications using recent .NET Frameworks, but fully moving BCU to a modern UI design would require a ton of work or a ton of concessions (dropped or simplified features to make the UI work easier). At the moment there is no one other than me maintaining BCU, so it's not feasible either way.

Hi! I'm also a great fan of this software. I'm already using it on another computer I own, I plan on installing this program on my main desktop after upgrading it to Windows 10. As for new ui design, I don't find it dated at all, it's very useful and one can see everything at a glance. Corporate design wants to make everything ugly and useless, in my opinion of course.

I found this old thread while searching around: https://github.com/Klocman/Bulk-Crap-Uninstaller/issues/75 from 2017. I thought it was too old to comment on, this is a more recent discussion thread.
