What is your full name?

Conroy Ricketts

What is your Knights email?

conroy.ricketts@knights.ucf.edu

Are you interested in presenting your idea at the interest meeting?

Yes

What's your idea about?

A simple yet effective mobile app that allows users to input and track their weight over time. The app can also share data like trends over months or weeks, and allow the user to set goals or benchmarks. This idea could also be integrated into a Workout app like the one I described in my earlier post, although I think that may be a lot to do in just one semester.

I also really like this idea! I can see how this would integrate well with the other suggestion you had. I don't think there's any precedent for inter-team collaboration/integration, but that would be REALLY cool to set up in the back half of the semester.

I think there's a lot of potential here. From what I've seen, it seems like people generally keep their weight-loss numbers in their head and use apps for things like calorie counting or exercise plans (like you had suggested). I think there's even more that can be done here to create a desire to use this app.

What if the user could keep track of several different body measurements beyond just current weight? Things like caloric intake, blood sugar levels, anything that might be useful to tracking changes in whatever health condition they're monitoring all in one place. This might be a lot of work to support so many different things, but I think that with a good level of abstraction and planning, it might make the app more widely useful without necessarily requiring that much new code.

Seeing trends over time would be extremely helpful for people to make changes as needed. Could you also set boundaries or caps for certain metrics that will warn the user if some measurement is beyond the desired range or borderline-dangerous?

I like the idea of setting goals and benchmarks for a period of time. That's pretty critical for making this work. Additionally, it might be helpful to provide automatic evaluation on progress towards those goals based on recent measurements and trends so that the user knows if they need to make changes to meet those goals.

I appreciate it! I also love all your ideas. We could also incorporate all of that into this app idea. I can't believe I didn't think of caloric intake because that would be especially useful for me since I just kind of keep track of that in my notes app. So it would be useful to have that and a weight tracker in one place in a efficient manner.
