Gledopto GL-C-009P support for 5 individual LED strips #21379

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe

GL-C-009P controller seems to not have support for 5 individual strips even though this functionality should be supported by the device.

Describe the solution you'd like

Adding support for 5 single-color LED strips. Meaning it should expose 5 light entities when in this mode (see context below).

Describe alternatives you've considered

Tried searching for other controllers with similar functionality. Gledopto seems to be one the only manufacturer to support this over zigbee.

Additional context

The GL-C-009P is one of the modes of the GL-C-001P is a 5 in 1 smart LED controller.

you can connect 5 stripes, but they will be controlled all at the time I think

Can you provide more context? Are you refering to the funcionality of the controller or the current z2m implementation? The device should support controlling 5 individual LED strips as 5 single-color strips. Meaning it should expose 5 light entities when in this mode.

No you cannot control 5 individual stripes. All outputs do the same and you see only ONE light in Z2M. The advantage to connect 5 stripes is, you can connect more stripes with more wattage.

From the wording of the manual and also the marketing material on the website I was expecting to be able to control all outputs separately in dimmer mode, and control 2 stripes separately in cct mode. Hardware wise it should be possible (as channels are controlled separately in other mode). So the question is, is this a firmware limitation in the device, or an z2m issue?

no thats wrong, show me that part in the manual. There is written, you can connect 5 stripes, but not control 5 stripes seperatly!

I never claimed anything specific was written. I said I was expecting it to work. Because 1. i am sure the hardware is capable of doing so and second if you market the possibility of connecting multiple Strips to it, what is the point of doing so, if you can not control them. I understand the power draw argument but i had never considered that before as i did not imagine anyone wanting to use that many LEDs on a single control.

It is not possible, GLEDOPTO dont build it like that. Many gateways cannot handle multiple endpoints, this could be one reason. So all outputs will do the same at the same time.

Many customers. The current for one channel is not much and so you can control much more...
