This is by design.
Don't look at me, it was Flummis decision.
The vertical scope adjustement number seems to not correspond with the real range for some sniper rifles. It looks like it is real range minus 200m for the LRR and minus 100m for the GM6 but it could me making a mistake.
Are you trying to use real life range tables to calculate in-game bullet drop? There certainly are variations between real life vs in-game bullet drag depending on caliber, so you cannot use those. Also keep in mind that things like ambient temperature, wind, etc play a role in-game now.
@commy2 Well, I understand that decision, i imagine it's to simulate the fact that you can't look at the numbers while your eye is looking through the scope but, as I said "the problem is : it is displayed constantly when non scopped and weapon raised" and that's kind of boring. I would be great if it was displayed only when you adjust and disapear a few secondes later.
@esteldunedain Ok , thanks, I will do some further testing. As I didn't find documentation about it, I thought the number for verticality corresponded to hundred of meters, am I wrong ? maybe someone can try to reproduce it with the LRR. I didn't use real life range tables it is just a difference between the number on the adjustement display and the in game range (using range finder) (and assuming 1 = 100 meters).
PS : thanks for quick answers. BTW I was waiting a lot for that kind of feature.
So with adjustment, is it anything like ACE? where it is measure in 0.25 MOA per click, or in mils? Is there any included range table? does the kestrel do headwind and crosswind? sorry for so many questions, am new here. Love the mod though.

Sorry, you are wrong, because...
where it is measure in 0.25 MOA per click, or in mils?
The adjustment is in Mils
Is there any included range table?
No, snipers have to do those themselves. There's an app coming I think to aid on that
"the problem is : it is displayed constantly when non scopped and weapon raised" and that's kind of boring. I
We could eventually change that
We did so much coding, we had no time to actually shot the weapons and to make these range tables.
@esteldunedain
Thanks for info. So you kinda have to guess?
@commy2
will there be any tables? or will there just be an app like esteldunedain said? I have the O.S.O.K. app for Arma 2 ACE sniping and it works very well, simple and clunky, but i like it like that.
Thanks for info. So you kinda have to guess?
:smile: I guess you can say so. More serious shooters should practice in the range and make their own range tables for their particular weapon and scope combinations. Then some variation in the field should be expected because of wind, temperature, etc.
@esteldunedain
Yeah i was thinking of probably doing that. Fun fun for me lol, Brings me back to Arma 2 days.
@HAILSTORM-ASI- if you finish those range tables post them here, please. We could add them in the wiki (at first) or use them in game maybe.
@esteldunedain Ok my bad.
We could eventually change that
It would be really nice. My display is kinda small and this image obstructs relatively big part of the screen whilst not being necessary at all times. I'd appreciate optional feature that would allow player to remove it or force it to disappear (maybe something ACE-style).
Another problem I stumble into is that if you change your weapon to binoculars or vector, the values on the scope will be deleted.
Is this with v0.94.1? Can't reproduce it there.
no I stumble into it yesterday with 0.94, will test 0.94.1 today
When using a "sniper" scope (DMS, SOS, LRPS) the Hud indicator for vertical and horizontal scope adjustments appear only when the weapon is raised and unscopped. When you look threw the scope it disappears. The problem is : it is displayed constantly when non scopped and weapon raised. There is something else but I don't know if it's bug or feature. The vertical scope adjustement number seems to not correspond with the real range for some sniper rifles. It looks like it is real range minus 200m for the LRR and minus 100m for the GM6 but it could me making a mistake.
