When a user first registers on Kompakkt, they are assigned a "user" role.
As a user, they can view & annotate. When they fill out the "Request upload capabilities" form, they get the "uploadrequested" role internally and have to first be approved by a Kompakkt admin.
While in this role, they will currently be presented the following:
I wonder if we can remove the "uploadrequested" role and anything that's associated with it?
I don't think it's clear for the user why they have to do this, and sometimes it takes more than 24 hours for a user to get approved because the mails about the requests sometimes get identified as junk mail.
My suggestion:
Remove "uploadrequested" role and instead, when a user registers their account and verifies it, they automatically get the "uploader" role
Notify admins about new accounts, so they have a record to inspect activity of new accounts
If a user is found out to have malicious intent (which hasn't happened yet during Kompakkts existence), they can be demoted by an admin to the "user" role until the users misconduct has been resolved (by contacting the user or removing the users content)
Add a report feature, where malicious users can be reported, which will notify Kompakkt admins
