Doom Guy Keeps Putting His Weapons Away #220

Hi, loving this mod and doing my best to spread the word. Running Oculus Rift via Windows 10. One issue I've been having is that my character will randomly revert back to fists only. When this occurs, the "safe space" grid appears on my screen as well. When I cycle through my weapons, everything works normally, but when I reach just fists, the grid also appears. It's very annoying when it reverts back to fists in the middle of a firefight, and this bright blue grid appears. Could be a tracking issue, as I don't have a large play space. Has anyone come across this?

Aside from this, I guess the main things that stick out to still work on would be (A) static cut scenes (would be way less jarring if they were 2d like the loading screens) and (B) Doom guy's hand clipping through the bottom of the PDA. That's literally all that comes to mind, which is pretty amazeballs. I will probably look for mods which skip the intro selection menu (Doom 1/2/3) and keep the flashlight on, but that's personal preference stuff. Keep up the good work and THANKS!

Glad you're enjoying the mod :)

The weapons switching to fists is most likely the voice recognition system misinterpreting background noise as 'fists'. There are a couple things you can try :

If you aren't using voice commands to change weapons, you can simply disable them thru the vr options menus.

You can also try adjusting the mic sensitivity - it's pretty sensitive. You can do this through Oculus Home. Additionally, running the training for Microsoft speech recognition can help as well.

Lastly, you can edit the 'voice.dict' file in the 'Fully possessed/dict' folder in you d3bfg install directory. Change the entries for 'fist' to something slightly more complex ( 'weapon fists' or 'meat hooks' or whatever )

The blue grid coming up when the fists are active are a safety measure - you can disable this thru the vr options menus as well, chaperone is probably set to 'melee', you can change it or disable as you like.

The readme.txt file has pretty good info about all the other options if you get curious.

The new version coming up has some new features, including fixed cutscenes anims, and the option to watch them in cropped or projected modes if you don't like the current way they are rendered.

I have the weapon switching problem, as well. I've disabled voice input as I don't use it, but I keep reverting to my fists. It usually seems to happen right when a fight starts and I go to shoot someone and POOF now I've got fists. It's really frustrating.
