Feature Request: Widget #1

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Many users would like a widget option.

This will be a bit time consuming and I am not sure it will happen before
December. We'll see though. If you have specific requests regarding what
the widget should look like, please add them here.

A 2x2 widget has been included in 0.9.3. The update time is hardcoded to 10
minutes (environment canada only updates every 15 minutes anyway). A 4x4
widget and config options are coming soon.

Please note: choose your city first in the EmWeather application before using
the widget. The widget currently pulls from the apps preferences, so they need
to be set up first.

2x2 widget and 4x4 widget are now available in 0.9.3.2. Very functional
although there are missing two things: 1) configuration options (right not it's
hardcoded to update every 10 minutes) and 2) need to set city in main
application first.

The widgets are now Alarm based = better update reliability and reduced battery
drain. I changed the background to white. Unfortunately, there is no way to
programmaticaly change the background for widgets so I could not add this to
the configuration menu (the AppWidget framework is bizarre). Let me know what
you think.

There is now an alternative download which provide black-widgets for users with
black themes.
