Hi, it's a very nice app that you have there. Did you think about making it
localizable in french? If you need help for that, I could help you.

Thanks  :-)

Copier/Coller
:)

6 - Exception: change "Night" à "Nuit". Ce distinction est le mien. Garde
les majuscules pour les autres mots.

Example, les premieres lignes:
        env_canada_forecast_map.put("A few clouds", WeatherIcons.PARTIALLY_CLOUDY);
        env_canada_forecast_map.put("Night A few clouds", WeatherIcons.NIGHT_LIGHT_CLOUDS);
        env_canada_forecast_map.put("A few flurries", WeatherIcons.LIGHT_SNOW);

doivent devenir:
        env_canada_forecast_map.put("Quelques nuages", WeatherIcons.PARTIALLY_CLOUDY);
        env_canada_forecast_map.put("Nuit Quelques nuages", WeatherIcons.NIGHT_LIGHT_CLOUDS);
        env_canada_forecast_map.put("Quelques averses de neige", WeatherIcons.LIGHT_SNOW);

Puis, télécharger le fichier modifier ici.

Merci! Cela va m'aider,
E.

Hello
Je peux faire ça sans problème. Je vais modifier la version anglaise vers la
version française.

Also: When there is a warning, it should be great to have it in the widget. I
was thinking putting all the widget in red with the links to the mobile site
for the warning details or parsing the xml.

Some description in the current code like
"Periods of rain or thunderstorms"
is not in the EC icon code description page
(http://dd.weatheroffice.ec.gc.ca/citypage_weather/docs/forecast_conditions_icon
_code_descriptions_e.html)

So there is no french translation

Hi, took a look at this. In the past, there was no documentation for the
datamart feeds, I took the city codes from the xml schema present with the code
or whatever docs were available (which is also why the order is different in my
code than in what is now present in the citypage docs). At the time, there
were some codes like "Periods of rain or thunderstorms", it may be that EC has
since removed some of these codes.

If there are codes that no longer exist in the table, can you make a list of
them, don't worry about a french translation, and just leave the english
mappings for now.

Also, I have already translated the rest of the app, there was not actually
that much to translate. However, as I am not a native french speaker, feel
free to take a look at the attached string file and feel free to make
corrections.

I really appreciate the help with this! Am hoping to put some time into
EmWeather on monday and the rest of next week.

Em

cool.
i'll run the file
i asked for the code. They are generated via a in-house program called Scribe.
I'll look at all the possible text code Scribe can generate.

Hi, re-reading my last few comments, I realized I may not have been clear:

- I have completed finished translating the app to french, which includes
pulling the french weather forecasts except for one thing: namely, mapping the
icons to the french weather conditions.

- All that remains to be done for this is basic cut and paste, this is
described in my "comment #1" above.

- If there are weather conditions in the file I attached above that don't seem
to have a match in the docs listed above, don't worry about them, just put them
in a separate list so I can deal with them later.

That is it, let me know if you are engaged in this, otherwise I will do it
myself in the next few days (mon or tuesday). I really appreciate the help
with this less than exciting necessity and don't want to waste anyone's time :)

Thanks, em

Em,
I have done two files, the one for french icon code mapping and the other is
the corresponding matrice for frenc and english. The missing icon from Your
description is in that file.
Let me know if it's ok.

Oli

Oh my so after making all those edits I realized that not all the condition
codes are included in the docs, and some are approximate! From the docs "Users
may note descriptions in our forecast data which are slightly different from
these icon code descriptions. In addition, this is only a sampling of the text
that will be used in the abbreviated forecast descriptions."

Erg.

Anyway, I just did it all by hand, there may be a few bugs or missing icons
because of the lack of documentation from Env Canada. For example, I cannot
know if a forecast will say: "Faible neige intermittente ou bruine
verglaçante", "Faible neige ou bruine verglaçante intermittente", or ""Faible
neige ou bruine verglaçante intermittentes". I tried to cover the common
likelihoods, but I can't do every premutation for every possible forecast.

En tout cas, the french translation is now finished and included in 0.9.5.5.

Furthermore, although the forecasts are only in english and french, if someone
would like to localize the app into their own language, it is very easy to do
now.  Just let me know.

Thanks for all the help!

Olivier, thanks for the changes, I have merged them, though I just released the
new version prior to getting your changes. They will be included in the next
update.

Thanks for the help,
em
