Open
Kreyren opened 3 years ago
Initiative to open-source/reverse-engineer the schematics/board views, etc.. while providing a docs to make it possible for 13yo to fix things.
Terminology
Generic
GPU
Graphics Processing Unit
GPU specific
AMD
VDDGFX
Main GPU core voltage used by AMD[1.1]
VDDC
Legacy naming of main GPU core voltage by AMD[1.1]
GPU North Bridge (NB), sometimes called SOC voltage[1.3]
VDDCI
GPU memory controller[1.2]
NVDD
Memory voltage
3.3V_BUS
PCIE Power Line
NVidia
NVVDD
Main GPU Core voltage used by NVidia[1.9]
FBVDDQ
GPU Memory controller and physical memory[1.10]
PEX_VDD
GPU PCIE part supply
IFP_IOVDD
GPU Display Port and HDMI supply
DDC_5V/8V
Linear +5V/8V supply[1.13]
3V3_F
PCIE +3.3V supply[1.14]
Generic GPU Power up sequencing[1.8]
12V_EXT_A, 12V_EXT_B, 3.3V_BUS, 12V_BUS are first to show up[1.8]
reference 1.8 to be processed
^ usable for 95% of boards
^ assumed for the rest
To be sorted
Without VDDGFX, VDDC, VDDCI and NVDD the GPU will never POST[1.4]

VDDGFX, VDDCI, VDDC, MVDD, 3.3V_BUS. 0.95V, (1.8V) are provided by a buck convertors in a switch mode power supply[1.5]
1.8V is sometimes provided by linerX[1.5]
5.5V is always provided by linerX[1.5]
PCI always provides 3.3V_BUS and 12V_BUS
Naming of the VDC-in[1.6]
[1.6]
PCI-E slot power supply capability is 75W[1.7]
