I've got a 64 bit computer at work running Windows 7 and Excel 2007. I haven't
tried running the connector on Excel 2003 with a 64 bit computer, BUT... I've
noticed that on Excel 2007, the EntityNames function doesn't return History of
custom objects OR tables of detail objects with two or more master objects.
This seems to be Excel 2007 specific.

I can confirm that the 2010 version of Excel in 64-bit mode does not support
sforce. Compilation error.

Any chance to fix this?

Attached is the patch to make this office 2010 safe and 64bit ready, however
the office tool kit is not 64bit ready or at least not working locally just yet.

it together, just need to get it running!

Thanks for the patch, i'll rebuild the excel connector for PE as soon as i am
able. My calendar is booked until last week of March so i'll try for then.

Users with Enterprise should be fine to take the patch and apply it to their
code base.

How do we install this patch??

Original comment by duckybo...@gmail.com on 5 May 2011 at 6:27

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
I think you need the Enterprise version and then you need to edit the source
file provided. I'm not sure how the 64bit stuff works since i don't have a 64
bit windows box. It looks like i may get one soon, then i would build a new
version of the connector for 64bit win. I hate having multiple version but
i'm not sure it can be detected easily from visual basic such that it works on
both 32 and 64.

until then just apply the patch by editing the file.

I've gotten pretty close to getting this up and running in 64bit windows /
64bit office. I'm mostly seeing compile errors at this point.

I think the main blocker here may be the toolkit...

How do you get the patch to work or any ETA on getting this put into the actual
product? I think this should be re-prioritized to High. Almost all new machines
use a 64bit version of Excel.

thanks

Original comment by rghanm...@gmail.com on 2 Nov 2012 at 12:31

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
If you have 64 bit win7, ensure you are running g 32bit office/excel 2010 (the
default from the installer anyway) then install office toolkit and excel
connector as described in wiki/downloads. Should work fine now.
If you try to install in 64-bit excel it will give you an error and not work.

Just had Excel 2010, win7 updated to 64bit from 32 on as some of the sheets ran
slowly / if at all and have been trying to get the connector back up since. Any
news on a win7 64bit compatible version being available? Made me laugh as the
s'sheets I was running were created with SFConnector in the first place! Should
have checked. Doh!

I would love to see this product updated. I just viewed a pitch for it by Nick
Mannella at a Salesforce Dreamforce 2011 and this would be just what the doctor
ordered. I tried patching it but failed. Can't get it to work and I hope that
the developer will still consider an update to this as it came so highly
recommended in an iTunes podcast/presentation. Thanks for kindly considering
this additional request to the ticket and thanks for the hard work.

I do plan to implement an office 64 bit compatable version, however I cannot
commit to a time frame as my current focus is with a startup that i've joined,
Kenandy Inc. This position takes all my time and spare time right now, but i
hope to address this defect at some point soon.

it appears that a few users have it working, and so i think i can "package"
that work but i won't know until i get my hands on a copy of office 64 and
windows machine.

Would be really great to see a 64-bit version of this. I attempted to fix by
applying patch per Post 8, and addressed a few further compilation errors
(changed a few Long variables to LongPtr) but even when it compiles without
errors I still see nothing in the Add-Ins toolbar.

let me know if it works, i have not tested it, but comes from a friend that

ok, i guess i'll take this binary down, looks like it's not clear that there
are two different 64bit issues.

1) windows 64bit OS
2) MS Office 64bit version

it's too easy to get these mixed up, and the binary i posted works for which i
don't know ??

everywhere in the project that says "Declare Function" needs to be changed to
"Declare PtrSafe Function"

this worked on a 64bit OS with a 64bit Office up to 2010.

it does not seem to create the add-in menu structures in 2013, i suspect at
this point it would need to be reworked in Visual Studio to be compatible with
the new Ribbon UI.

however since the office tool kit is stuck at version 16 of the salesforce API,
and MS is moving forward with the Metro/tiles and more importantly web services
directly in the office applications (not to mention the 3rd party support
nightmare that will come with Office365)....

argh! i feel all of your pains. this was a crazy useful tool, and is sorely
missed.

Win 7 64 bit / Excel 2013 64 bit.

I added in "PtrSafe" as mentioned 2 posts above, and now there is no error,
however am unable to see it in any "Add In" ribbon? I can clearly see it
checked as an Add-in, but it does not appear anywhere. Any luck from anyone
else?
