the latest release of this lib on PyPI is from February of 2022 (as seen here: https://pypi.org/project/pyScss/#history).
In November 2022, the error "global flags not at the start of the expression at position 1" was apparently fixed in the following commit: https://github.com/Kronuz/pyScss/commit/60414f5d573315a8458b5fbcdf69e5c648c44a9a
