Would it be useful to allow a reference image to be imported? This image would then be displayed as a semi-transparent layer behind the main canvas, allowing them to better get perspectives and ratios when trying to match a more detailed reference.
I honestly don't love this idea as it makes the application more complicated than it was intended to be. It also would require some more thought about how to execute properly.
I am open to be convinced and happy to discuss.
If you have a vision of how this would look or have seen this in other app's, I'd be happy to see a screenshot or two.

When you say "a more detailed reference", are you thinking the image would have a higher pixel density than the grid in the app right now? If this is the case, I would strongly push back. If we have two grids on top of each other with different resolutions, that would probably be confusing from a user's perspective.
