hi,your Google drive link is unavailable.Could you please update it?Thank you!

Hi, the google drive link failed due to some unexpected changes in Google’s policy with UT. I should have a backup in my lab computer. I will ask lab mates to upload that data to somewhere if possible since I don’t have access to the device after graduation. Best, Kun

Thanks for your replying,

I'm really looking forward to the data since I am currently working on a project regarding the flood prediction. Could you please update the google drive link (or other accessible links) when the data is successfully uploaded, or directly send the data to me (my email is wangfeifei@mail.ustc.edu.cn)? I really need it :)

Again thank you so much :)

Kunqian123 commented 2 years ago

No problem. I have asked my lab mates, but I am not sure if they can find the data since it was a work several years ago. I am thinking in the worst case, can you use the code that I uploaded to make some simulations? I took a quick look and it should have the required input data to generate some results. I will update with respect to the data I used. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding the simulation.

Best, Kun

Tnx, I will follow your advice and try to make some simulations before the data could be uploaded. I really appreciate your help :)

Hi,Could you tell me if the data can be uploaded now?In addition, what format is the input of training data or validation data? And how can I extract and average the precipitation and inflows between two time steps(a stored result and simulated state after 30 mins) from the simulation? Thank you very much for your reply :)

Hi,

I have a bad news regarding the data. My account was deleted after graduation thus people cannot access the data on the university’s desktop. You have to use the simulation to regenerate data if you need that. That’s not expected from Google side since they canceled UT’s unlimited storage privilege. Sorry about that. Best, Kun

I'm sorry to hear that. Thank you very much for your kind help. Could you tell me how to extract and average the precipitation and inflows between two time steps(a stored result and a state after 30 mins) from the simulation? I now have some CSV files(input, depth, x momentum and y momentum) from the simulation. However, I don't know how to convert them into the training data.

Hi, in simulation data, the simulation step needs to be small to be precise and maintain numerical stability. The precipitation, and inflows have data points every \delta_t (in which \delta_t is very small). You should define some reasonable values yourself since the simulation data is not available now (sorry again since I also didn't expect this). For precipitation, I roughly divide the whole region into 9 grids (3*3) and assume that the precipitation density is the same in each grid. You can select some values between a reasonable range to do the simulation. For the inflow, I have a constant inflow from the Colorado River upstream (the left and upper corner of the figure). And when it comes to training, I average the precipitation and inflow amount over the 30 mins, since I want the deep model to predict over the 30 mins span.

Thanks again for your reply. I understood the scene in general. You mean that the precipitation and inflow over the 30 mins have data points every \delta_t. Is it the amount of inflow or the rate? If it's rate, do I need to average it and multiply it by time (30 minutes)?

I think if you simulate by yourself, it shouldn't matter how you average it, as long as it is consistent across the training and evaluation. Because precipitations and inflows are in separate input channels from states, once you normalize, the scaling doesn't really matter. But of course, if you want to use my trained model, I think according to what the paper described, I probably used averaged rates or averaged amounts (I cannot confirm this since I don't recall this detail).

Thanks again for your reply. I understood the scene in general. You mean that the precipitation and inflow over the 30 mins have data points every \delta_t. Is it the amount of inflow or the rate? If it's rate, do I need to average it and multiply it by time (30 minutes)?

OK, I will try to simulate and train the model according to your suggestions. Thank you for the code and guidance. This is very useful to me :)
