i think these would need to be regenerated for when the annotated gene bed file changes. if so, it might be possible to just have these be generated for every pipeline run.

not sure. how computationally feasible/worth it this is. takes 7.5 hours for the ref panel for all samples to generate. might test integrate this at the end to see how it affects the overall runtime.
