Adding a barebones Maven build layout. There's a lot of normalization for packages, file names, etc. required in order to make this a proper project. Regular Java compilation will still work (as it always will). The goal here is to get the migration started.
It's important to note that the following items were added to the .gitignore (non-project related): VisualStudioCode, SublimeText, Eclipse, Windows, archives, Emacs, Microsoft Office temporary files, macOS, Java, JetBrains IDEs, Xcode, VisualStudio IDE, Maven, images.
