socket.io session management #1

the server should keep track of socket sessions, and relate them to the relevant user id in the system (if the session user is logged in)

This is related to the work being done on the publish/subscribe ticket, and will be complete once the user authentication ticket is done after that. In that sense, this is redundant and I am closing it.
