This should increase compatiblity with other systems

@alecristia can you try this and see if it fixes the bug for you ?

pip install git+https://github.com/LAAC-LSCP/ChildRecordsData.git@cli-fix
child-project --help

This should improve compatibility on Windows (so confirmation from @alsonicr is also welcome), but might as well improve compatibility for exotic python setups. Though if it does not work even with datalad, this is likely not to fix your problem anyway!

Ok voila les commandes sur windows avec un environment conda

conda create --name test python=3.6
conda activate test 
pip install git+https://github.com/LAAC-LSCP/ChildRecordsData.git@cli-fix
child-project --help

et ça marche très bien aucun soucis à l'installation.
