I was doing some research on PAR and the coefficients to use, and has noticed something that worried me a bit :
Page 35 of the User Guide (section 6.3.5), PAR is described as Mean monthly value of Photosynthetically Active Radiation during daylight hours. (so, excluding night)
But page 71 (Calibration procedure), it is written that PnET PAR inputs are monthly averages of daily light level (including night).
My current interpretation is that the second sentence relates to the original PnET model (out of LANDIS-II), and is thus a warning that PAR units in the original PnET are averages for the whole day, while in PnET Succession, PAR is an average for daylight hours; and that this makes HalfSat values from studies using the original PnET not directly applicable to PnET Succession.
I just wanted to validate that, and be certain that PnET Succession does expect averages for daylight hours, and not the entire day.
(And thank you so much for the user guide, it is very complete !)
Hello there !
I was doing some research on PAR and the coefficients to use, and has noticed something that worried me a bit :
Mean monthly value of Photosynthetically Active Radiation during daylight hours.
(so, excluding night)PnET PAR inputs are monthly averages of daily light level (including night)
