Lich "cyborg" #3

Sorry for spawning ideas :D -but feel free to close it when appropriate. I don't intent to keep open github issue trackers primarily; it's all about the ideas.

So the lichdom mod explores the lich theme. Perhaps also demiliches!

How about pets such as Boo or others become liches? Ok ok I guess animal liches is not within the primary theme.

But how about lich "components"? In that other mod, the insane one where the end boss spawns 5 planetars or so (whereas the main actor is limited to just one, in vanilla games; I think it is called extended planar sphere or something like that), there are I think two lich components; eye of vecna or something like that (Jan put it in, he could not help himself! And then lateron he became a lich there ... though that mod is buggy, the portrait actually disappeared once he became a lich).

What if the lichdom mod could ALSO have certain items?

For instance in Lava's White Queen mod, there is a claw of some demon that is cursed; when you wear it it changes some resistances / saves.

I am thinking along those lines: kind of attachable "items" that can enhance something, but they come with some kind of price, e. g. downgrade too. Not making this overpowered, but still semi-useful.

While I am thinking of attachable things, hence the "cyborg" theme, though just to call that inofficially, and while I refer to e. g. put an eye in or an ear or a limb or a lich heart ... this could be extended to more interesting items in general. Not all of them have to be super-strong, of course. Some could just be to improve the overall scary theme of a lich.

Perhaps some item that also provides an aura, related to fear or pain or horror or something like that. And sunglasses! Well, just glasses ... broken glasses, of some mage trying to research how to become a lich. When he tried to, he died tragically... and left behind his half-broken glasses. (Not sure what these could do ... perhaps identify stuff ... or see invisible or anything like that).

Eye of Vecna could be re-thought with different eyes, perhaps there is even a great lich book, a book of famous liches in the past, and what item they created, or potions. Then the actor could kind of create or mix these. And perhaps they require prior lich-components to have been attached already or so. A bit like the recipe book in the Dusk NPC, where the leprechaun smith can craft things for the rest of the party, such as the stoneskin bracers. But, more fitting to a scary lich theme.

Anyway, these are just ideas. Don't worry too much about implementing any of these, it's just some semi-random ideas really.

PS: Lava also created that Stings of Barovia mod. While this is not related to liches as such, it may be great to see some cross-enhancements there, e. g. making Stings of Barovia scarier. Or putting more books in general about liches into the game with cross-mod content.

PSS: There is also the (in my opinion) problematic tactics remix. This one is a bit crazy, but there are some additional liches added such as the vampire lich or the two liches before Kangaax. Not sure if you want to refer to that mod, but I am just mentioning in case you ever feel there is a shortage of liches in general. :P (Obviously liches should be not as common as vampires.)

In vanilla games there is also another lich, the one where Edvin gets a book. Not sure if this one is noteworthy but I'll just mention that lich. He seems more of a failed lich compared to Kangaax and others like the one in the city gates district (that one can be cheesed, e. g. I run in, grab the sword, run out, do this again, rest, and then he is super-easy to kill even just about early on; and the sword can then be used for Korgan berserk to kill Kangaax ... kind of).
