show context for Sinopia lookups #2769

Describe the feature you'd like For lookups to Sinopia Works, Instances, Items (or any resources created in Sinopia), we only show the label in the results. If searching "all resources" there's often a Work and Instance with the same label and you can't tell which is which. As the number of resources in Sinopia grows, there will also be duplicates even when limiting to only Works or only Instances. See also #2720 which deals with lookups of Sinopia items specifically.

Show some context like QA does in search results, or like we do on the Sinopia search tab. Need to ask users what context they want to see.

Give an example Here's an example of a current lookup where you get multiple results with same label, and so you don't know how to differentiate among them.

The context should be in the same context format as other lookups, e.g.: image

The fields should be:

Since we know that some of these lookups are Bibframe specific, should we provide some class specific context?

looks like a job for..... @astrid!

justinlittman commented 3 years ago

No, within the scope of this ticket, we shouldn't provide class specific context.

jcoyne commented 3 years ago

@justinlittman I don't think the proposed scope of the ticket is enough valuable context to benefit the user. If I'm looking for a title, I want to know when it's published an who the author is. The generic administrative data is not going to be enough.

justinlittman commented 3 years ago

That is how our search currently works. The scope of this ticket does not include BF enhancing our search; it covers only displaying the existing search fields here.

@justinlittman I talked about this at length last week with Michelle. I think we agreed that as specified, this feature would be little benefit to anyone.

justinlittman commented 3 years ago

Moving to Sprint Backlog so we can determine how/if to make this actionable.

let's do the original plan to add the same level of context we have in search results, at least users will have something more than a single label. I will bring up larger issue (BF/generic) at next week's Sinopia UG meeting and at today's team retro
