I heard something about an alumni slack, but I don't have a link.
like someone already created one? I might have at some point and then just not followed through with it.
Completely copied this and made my own version for teaching @hershaw ๐ thanks for the inspiration
Also created this if you want to use it https://github.com/LDSSA/wiki/milestone/2
This must be the alumni slack: ldssa.slack.com
So here's a first draft of the OKRs for community:
Now that the course has been going for some years and there are hundreds of people that have taken part in the community, we should have a way to know who is part of it. We currently have a member directory that lists the names of the graduates but there should be some benefit to having emails, linkedin links, and maybe a few other pieces of information in a spreadsheet or something that everyone can access.
KR1: A member directory that is easy to navigate and access is designed KR2: 100% of past students are in the new member directory KR3: 100% of the past and current volunteers are in the new member directory KR4: Any past or present member has a way to find and get in touch with any other past or present member of the community through the new member directory
Since the community is large and diverse, many people are restricted in terms of time, and there are many preferences for socialisation, we should not try to come up with a one-size-fits-all solution. Rather we should discover (1) if community members want to socialise and (2) in what way do they want to socialise. With those two things discovered we can learn how to offer the type of social experience that suits someone best.
KR5: Know whether or not every member of the community wants to socialise or not. KR6: Of the students that want to socialise, understand how they would prefer to socialise. KR7: Offer 100% of the students that want to socialise an experience that they are excited about.
The feeling of community generated by everyone being in the same room and chillin' together doesn't really have a substitute. This year it will be a challenge because of the pandemic (fucking COVID) but by the end of it, we might be able to have something happen in person.
KR8: Understand if and when we can have an in-person event safely. KR9: Determine a time and place that the most people can attend. KR10: Do the operations to plan and execute said event with at elast 75% student attendance.
Happy to receive comments / suggestions!
@hershaw This looks great! We've been talking about Objective 1 for a while, and there's a great need for it, so good to get 'em into shape.
For KR5, for those who do not want to socialize, can we also get a sense of what they find rewarding in the community? E.g. learnings, networking, etc. This does not mean that the Community AORs will be solely responsible for making it happen. But once we are aware of it, other AORs can join and see whether we could make it happen (e.g. Knowledge sharing between members)
Hey @hershaw @minhhoang1023 ! ๐
It looks like this issue is pending an answer from @hershaw . Can you give it some love? โค๏ธ
This issue has changed to rotting
status, since it had no answer for more than 14 days. It will gain "rotten" status if no action is taken in the next 14 days.
Let's keep our Wiki fresh and clean. ๐งนโจ
@hershaw may I consider this the final OKRs list for Community to be included in the Wiki?
I would like to set a few simple but impactful goals for the community AOR for this batch.
Some ideas are:
I think that we should select one or two of things to accomplish before the academy starts and another two or three things to accomplish during the course of the academy.
I'm tagging the exec on the issue because they should be aware of the priorities so they can request changes.
