My Solo Mining is broken all of a sudden #73

Closed imrecsoka closed 6 years ago

imrecsoka commented 6 years ago

Hi, i have launched this new version, and not my solo mining is broken. Please assist me as i am using the same command on the old version and it works fine.

joshafest commented 6 years ago

you need to configure miner to give masternode payment, new version removed the '''getwork''' command

imrecsoka commented 6 years ago

Okay, let me see if i can work out how you give masternode.... not sure. One strange thing, is that solo mining seems to work with cpuminer.exe --algo xevan How does that work - ;-(

imrecsoka commented 6 years ago

HI, I have tried to understand ot figure this out, i dont understand or know how to "configure the miner to give masternode payment".

Please help me

joshafest commented 6 years ago

ok, Let me do a little update, it will give you an coinbase transaction, so it will work without anything.

imrecsoka commented 6 years ago

Okay my man, thank you. Please let me send you some hash power or something. I am a small little fish but i am willing to share or give. Grateful you will help. Some dude told me you need to be a master node which i think is nonsense. I need to sell my car if i want to get 25 000 BSD. Strange though, my CPU Miner works on SOLO but my bloody GPU doesnt, i cant understand it. When i run the OLD wallet and i run the GPU , then it is fine. So it has to be the wallet which is broken. But i still dont understand how CPU works but GPU doesnt , on the NEW wallet.

imrecsoka commented 6 years ago

Hi, so whats the news on this now?

joshafest commented 6 years ago

please join pool until we update and test the coinbase transaction

imrecsoka commented 6 years ago

HI, do you mean i must join a mining pool like suprnova or cryptopools ? Until the SOLO is fixed? How is everybody else mining solo, i dont understand it. If i see the block explorer it says userxyz has found 5 reward

imrecsoka commented 6 years ago

Hello, is there any news?

imrecsoka commented 6 years ago

Hi, please tell me whats going on with SOLO mining, why does my miner not connect to 127.0.0.1 It has been 29 days since your last message, i am eager to contribute and support the network.

huglester commented 6 years ago

Hello,

maybe it would be nice to get a howto run a solo mining. Thank you!

imrecsoka commented 6 years ago

Indeed. I have been waiting for ages, i dont think support will support this question. Maybe Christmas holidays ?

azilber commented 6 years ago

I've just spent some time trying to get it to work and stumbled unto this... please put "getwork" back in.

imrecsoka commented 6 years ago

Hi, i wish they can do this, you mean the Developers right? Why did they remove this i dont understand it, I have been waiting for ages.

azilber commented 6 years ago

It was removed from Bitcoin Core. It makes sense to remove it from Bitcoin, which has nary a possibility for solo mining. But for every other coin it should be back-ported back in.

I was asking with other coins for exmaple, and some told me to use a miner which doesnt or does support getwork, i mean that it not good

enough for help.

It doesnt explain which miner or any background.

U have explained more so far , so thanks.

I mean the dev team for Solaris coin pointed me to telegram and it was a ghost town i mean thats ridiculous.

I would like to know if there are other Xevan miners and or how to get to mine solo or are u saying this is not up to the user, but this is rather definitely up to the Developers ?

The mining process still work but the “problem“ is that the workflow changed variables and its not possible to mine with a old mining software anymore because the work is splitted in other ways... set generate on cpu still work on any wallet. Its more a Mining Software Development Step then a Coin Development... Only way is start a local Pool and work with this or try to get a miner that support v14 in single mining.

I used sgminer-xevan: https://github.com/LIMXTEC/Xevan-GPU-Miner/releases

You guys released that miner. :)

Safe to say, it does not work mining Bitcloud solo.

Bitcloud is a Pos/Masternode Coin so there is no mining... Look at the release from the Miner so its outdated for solo mining its just for pool mining anymore. We are no Mining Devs so this was a community release at first.

SGminer .... definitely, i would imagine CCminer is the same, but i have not used nvidia for very long. I am new to Nvidia

This is too much overhead, even if i need to learn a bit, i dont understand why it is not just incorporated in the wallet code.

The existing miners for AMD and NVIDIA do support pool and solo mining, i dont understand the real deal with removing of the getwork function

imrecsoka commented 6 years ago

So again , if i were to contribute to the network and word of mouth it also, its not going to be that simple if nobody even replies here from the technical team.

dArkjON commented 6 years ago

The original getwork mining protocol simply issues block headers for a miner to solve. The miner is kept in the dark as to what is actually in this block, and has no influence over it. In effect, the authority of the miner to decide which transactions are accepted, etc, is all transferred blindly to the pool operator. A corrupt (or compromised) pool operator could use the combined hash power of all the miners to execute double spend attacks or other similar attacks.

getblocktemplate moves block creation to the miner, while giving pools a way to set down the rules for participation. While pools can do just as much as they could before by expressing it in these rules, miners can not be kept in the dark and are enabled to freely choose what they participate in mining. This improves the security of the Bitcoin network by making blocks decentralized again.

Update your Miner to getblocktemplate there are no plans to go back to the old "getwork" solution.

imrecsoka commented 4 years ago

So anyways this is a very old thread. How do people mine solo these days?

limxdev commented 4 years ago

I recommend to use a pool or stufff like that.
