We need to look into:

optimisation of the compilation of the iGUESS rails application. This might involve checking if we can do bit compilation and choosing the correct compiler (Rubinius, JRuby, ...).
check if Puma needs to be better configured to address multiple parrallel requests
check why the "Maps" tab is loading very slowly compared to all other tabs in iGUESS.
