Feature/v hemish/filter env modified

[v-hemish]

Changes made:

• Renamed function name to follow PEP 8 guidelines which recommend using snake_case for function names.
• Renamed local variables to be more descriptive and use snake_case.
• Updated docstring formatting to be consistent with PEP 257.

Hey Shawn,

This is Hemish Veeraboina. Actually LLNL visited our campus during job and internship fair. I got to know that LLNL has a lot of open source projects and I was taking a look at the work LLNL does. Also, if you have any other projects in mind which would be better for contribution, would be happy to help. Also, if you know any vacancies on your team for internships, kindly let me know. I’m going to work on this project for now.
