Heads up, this seems to include the same node branch that I would say isn't quite ready to be pulled into the code, as there is still testing to be done.

I think it will be OK. Your work seems to be a no-op if same_node is not used. At least in my testing on rzvernal with flux it seemed to be fine.

But we will not advertise the existence of same_node for now til it is ready
