Hi, I am making this issue so I don't spam issue #29 . Here I will share my progress in making the Video for the LMMS Youtube channel.

First, let me share a Raw test shot I did. Thats about how the shots will look in the commercial.

If you have any suggestions and ideas, feel free to leave comments

P.S. If you know a better place to put this rather than here, please state it. I am open to ideas.

I don't want to jump the gun too much on the creative part because that's half of the fun, but if we have some shots of a midi device at some point (to the likes of a keyboard or drum pad) illustrating the equipment end, that would be nice. I also have a sleek looking Dell XPS 13 Dev Edition I could offer for footage although I lack on the recording equipment front. :)

I will do some shots of my Akai LPK25 working with LMMS. I probably won't be taking shots of my laptop, so if you want to send some footage, I'll be glad to accept it. I will probably take some shots of my Tablet acting as a MIDI controller too (something like this) :3

@tresf Actually the music you hear currently is probably going to be in the final product. Its an unreleased collaboration between Syntask, Greippi and myself. Its a special edit that I did for the commercial. Also I have been editing so the video matches the audio ('Design your own sound' text kicks in when the beat starts etc.)

Very nice. No objections here although to be extremely nitpicky I think the hats could start off a bit quieter.

You hand are kind of in the way and into the camera. Could you perhaps lower the keyboard or rise the camera or screen?

This is so awesome.

Your instinct about the midi shot is correct, it does need some work. It may be a problem with the lighting because the hands look orange against the illuminated monitor screen,

but IMO the piano playing is not dramatic enough when compared to the rest of the video.

I would recommend (if its not too much work) a two-handed, double-pressed chord merged into the track or even a small freestyle solo on it, as I feel it will make it much more dramatic. As far as the lighting goes, perhaps not having the screen in the shot with the hands will help? Its tough because once you start messing with lighting the whole thing can go out of whack. :tractor:

But I don't think the automation bezier animation is necessarily too short. I'm extremely impressed with the production quality of this. I can't contain my excitement.

BTW, I'd like to make this video an auto-expanding one on the homepage like how the YouTube ones are working, rather than a hotlink to youtube.

Oh yeah, for the FX, the word arbitrary isn't good in this context as it's neither qualitative nor quantitative. I'm not sure what word is best to replace it with though.. perhaps... over 100?

As for the MIDI goes, I will probably shoot in daylight next time.The lighting in the room and the screen have very different color temperatures, so that's why it looks that way.

I'll certainly play around with something like that. This was rather a test shot, added in the last minute.

Maybe, the thing is I didn't want to use the word unlimited twice, since you can add an infinite number of FX on a mixer channel.

Moved labels so they are more readable. The MIDI controller/Samples part is the only thing that's off. I think the commercial can be called pretty much done after fixing that.

Maybe. The reason I showcased so many 3rd party synths is mostly because the internet is full of "Dubstep" wannabes who watch tutorials which are in 85% of the time about Massive or FM8. I just wanted to show that LMMS is fully featured and capable of running those popular synths, but I guess I could probably squeeze in some LADSPA effect shots. :lantern:

The background song is actually 100% native LMMS, but to make the mmpz downloadable I'd probably have to check with Greippi and Syntask (I doubt they'll mind tho).

If you are gonna do that, it needs to be faster, not take more than a second or half a second, or else it will be too disturbing

As @tresf suggested I added some shots that represent LADSPA effects. I haven't come up with a catchy title for that segment, so please share your ideas for it with me.

The ending is still a bit wonky, but its getting there.
