Can traditional Chinese be added to lmms in the future?

TechnoPorg commented 4 months ago

I see on LMMS' Transifex that a request has been sent to the project owners to add Chinese Traditional as a locale to the project. I'm not exactly sure who that is - I think it's liushuyu?

What specific locale code seems to be missing? On Transifex I can see:

Chinese (China) (zh_CN) 3,112 strings to translate 333 strings to review
Chinese (Taiwan) (zh_TW) 3,379 strings to translate 211 strings to review

They are about 10 to 20 % done, so more volunteers or time may be needed to finish or update both translations. If I understand it correctly, zh_CN uses simplified and zh_TW traditional characters? But I don't know about other differences that make the languages different, so perhaps that's not what you are asking for.

The list of requested languages is pretty long and contains duplicate entries for languages that were already added ages ago and don't require regional variations (like Czech cs vs cs_CZ), so maybe the requests were just overlooked in the noise.

At any rate, I can see @liushuyu on the zh_CN team, so maybe they could shed some light on this issue?

What is traditional chinese in this context? Other signs or another language/dialect? If I search for Which of the traditional Chinese language codes these are the ones that are available. zh-TW is already in there so I assume it's one of the others.

Chinese (Traditional) (zh-Hant), zh-Hant
Chinese (Traditional, Hong Kong S.A.R.), zh-HK
Chinese (Traditional, Macao S.A.R.), zh-MO
Chinese (Traditional, Taiwan), zh-TW

My gut feeling says no. Another version of Chinese that will be incomplete?

No. You keep bumping random issues, which essentially means that you are moderating the lmms issue tracker, and in doing this you are diverting our attention away from other issues. You are not an lmms developer. Stop doing this.
