Electron ID for 2018 #11

From https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/view/CMS/EgammaRunIIRecommendations

Everything is fine, only change was the electron tight pt cut (why use 40? the trigger is HLT_Ele32_WPTight_Gsf_v, so pt > 35 GeV) should be fine).

Regarding the "loose ID" - what is it used for? I am a bit scared about the pt cuts (they seem low, especially they are lower than the trigger) and the fact that there is some interplay in between the ID at the trigger and the ID we want to use at selection level (i.e., we should not use "loose ID" if we are coming from a "Tight" trigger.

In electron control regions (single ele, diele) we should use tight electrons. We haven't made the modification yet since we focused on the single muon CR, but that's what we need to do. Loose electrons are used for veto in regions triggered differently (MET or photon triggers).

Also do you know why there is no dxy and dz cut in the electron definition for 2018?

trtomei commented 5 years ago

As far as I know, dxy and dx cut are baked in the ID definition. We should not cut explicitly on them.

Great, thanks

Actually, now I am not sure... :( I know this for a fact for muons, but for electrons I am not finding the reference.
