why the traces display SYMBOL-123 instead of print? something looks wrong, maybe not in this PR but in the base branch

It seems a problem from the base branch. I have blindly promoted the jsons without looking to their result But in fact dune exec elpi -- -test tests/sources/printer.elpi has a wrong printing even in the original branch I think it is due to the checkbox not marked as done here
