Steps 2 and 3 missing in data_preparation? #17

Goes straight from 1 to 4.

Yes, sorry - it is a legacy issue. There used to be steps 2 and 3 that were invocation of Matlab libraries but when the code was converted 100% to Python, those steps were incorporated into step 4.
