Linux Support #2

Open zeroxoneafour opened 3 years ago

zeroxoneafour commented 3 years ago

I have heard this is a fork of sunshine, and sunshine natively supports linux. When trying to build the openstream-server project, and even the openstreamhost directory independently, it seems to require Windows files. The website says the hosting software is compatible with linux, and sunshine was too. If this is a fork of sunshine, how come the linux support wasn't maintained?

Hello @zeroxoneafour.

how come the Linux support wasn't maintained?

Because It has not been maintained yet. It is in the plans for the next steps, but right now some internal features aren't cross-platform.

Just found out about this project when doing some research for a project of my own. Looking forward to having Linux support!

Linux Support with the Wayland display compositor would be very important

Are there any progress related to Linux-support? :-)

LS3solutions commented 2 years ago

Not currently.

After struggling to develop code on a previous code base, we decided to rebuild new code from the ground up. A new beta release is expected within a few weeks. We will keep everyone posted.

Interesting! Thank you, for the fast reply. I'll give Sunshine a try, and jump on Opensteam, as soon as the Linux-host solution are working 👍 😄 .

Any news on that?

Was hoping this would have linux-support right away because of the advertisement for noVNC, Moonlight and sunshine.

This project is dead, better off going here for Linux version: https://github.com/SunshineStream/Sunshine

zeroxoneafour commented 2 years ago

I've used sunshine for a while now, back when this was asked it was much less polished than it is now
