Limitation on number of private GitHub repositories for DESC? #27

@richardxdubois During Hack Day we discussed the use of private GitHub repositories. We were asked by @nregnault, if there is a limit on the number of private repositories available for DESC? A general idea would do.. 100s?

There's no limitation to private repos anymore on GitHub (this changed a few months ago). Everyone in DESC should also apply for the education discount, which upgrades their personal account:

In general, it's still probably a good idea to encourage using public repositories whenever possible. This will make it much easier to collaborate and search from the open web, especially because GitHub's search capability isn't up to par with that of Google.

Thanks, @brianv0. Tagging @drphilmarshall so he'll more likely see the response!

Thanks Heather :-) It'll be interesting to see whether DESC members continue to prefer public repos as time goes on - at the moment most DESC projects are being carried out in the open.
