Running CLMM on Legacy Survey data

We test CLMM on Legacy Survey data (https://www.legacysurvey.org/dr9/catalogs/), starting from DECaLS catalogs.

Contacts: @shenmingfu Day/Time: Oct 17 - 21, 2022 Main communication channel: Slack #desc-cl-clmassmod GitHub repo: https://github.com/LSSTDESC/CLMM Zoom room (if applicable): In-person (virtual participants are welcome)

Goals and deliverable

  1. Selecting galaxy clusters in the Legacy Survey footprint for the CLMM test (e.g. clusters that have high lensing mass and/or high richness, X-ray luminosity, SZ effect, etc.). Legacy Survey galaxy cluster catalog: https://ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2021ApJS..253...56Z/abstract
  2. Building a Jupyter notebook for demonstrating using CLMM on the published Legacy Survey catalogs.
  3. Comparing the CLMM results with previous studies.

Resources and skills needed

Software: CLMM Data: The Legacy Survey public catalogs. Data access: https://www.legacysurvey.org/dr9/description/ https://datalab.noirlab.edu/ls/ls.php Data acknowledgments: https://www.legacysurvey.org/acknowledgment/ https://www.legacysurvey.org

Detailed description

The notebook will mainly be developed and tested on NERSC. This project is similar to https://github.com/LSSTDESC/SprintDayChicago2022/issues/9.
